In 1928 the Bentley Boys already required a legendary status. However this wasnt nearly enough for Sir Henry Tim Birkin. The transmission is a 4-speed manual which only adds to the cars sporting character and the rear.
With a single-port block two SU carburettors a high-performance camshaft and a compression ratio of 531 the Speed Sixs engine produced 180 hp 130 kW at 3500 rpm. The Mark VI used a 425 liter inline-six for power although Rolls-RoyceBentley never said exactly how much power it was. The headline never appeared.
In 1929 and 1930 victory was gained by the Speed Six a Bentley so formidable in sports car races of the era that entries from competing factory teams declined. The Speed Six was available to customers with wheelbases of 138 inches 3505 mm 1405 inches 3569 mm and 1525 inches.
